Matthew McCabe

Dean, Biological and Environmental Science and Engineering Division

Matthew McCabe is dean of the biological and environmental science and engineering division at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. He received his doctorate in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Newcastle in Australia and held research positions at Princeton University and Los Alamos National Laboratory, and was an associate professor at the University of New South Wales before joining KAUST in 2012. A leader in the field of Earth observation, his research spans the water and food nexus, climate change, urban and natural ecosystems and the environment, with particular interest in novel technologies for monitoring Earth and environmental processes. He has published more than 260 scientific contributions and is recognised as a Clarivate highly cited researcher in the top one per cent worldwide.
