Marcus Rink

Chief Inspector of Drinking Water

Marcus Rink is chief inspector of drinking water for England and Wales, appointed in August 2015. He is the technical regulator responsible for ensuring that more than 15 billion litres of drinking water are supplied safely each day to over 61 million consumers, and leads a team of technical experts, scientists and engineers drawn from the water sector and allied industries who assess whether the quality, sufficiency, security and operational technology of supplies are fit for purpose. He oversees water companies' compliance with their regulatory obligations, including investigating operational incidents, publishing independent reports on their causes and requiring improvements, and advises ministers on drinking water matters. He is a fellow of the Institute of Water.
