Khalid Salmi

Senior Expert

Khalid Salmi is a Senior Expert at the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), the independent not-for-profit regional organisation created following the 2008 Cairo Declaration to enable the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency practices in the Arab region. A mechanical engineer by training with an MSc in Renewable Energy Engineering, he joined RCREEE in 2014 and manages its standardisation and certification unit as well as its green hydrogen portfolio, which aims to align the green hydrogen impetus in the Arab region with global standardised practices. Across his projects he has cooperated with national governments and international development organisations, including ministries, development banks, UN programmes and the European Union, as well as alliances and networks involved in the energy industry and green economy. Throughout his career in sustainable energy he has gained practical expertise in the role of green technologies, policies and regulations as effective instruments for the sustainable management of resources and the deployment of clean energy practices in tackling economic and environmental challenges.
