Khaled Ibrahim is Professor of Advanced Materials and Failure Analysis at the Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute in Helwan, the Egyptian state research centre that reports to the authority responsible for scientific research and houses institutes for ore technology and processing, metallurgical technology, advanced materials and manufacturing technology. His published work sits in materials science, covering alloy development, casting and heat treatment, titanium processing and wear resistance. Failure analysis, the other half of his chair, is the discipline that establishes why a component fractured, corroded or wore out in service, and it is what turns a broken part into a correction in the next design.
