Davide Padoa

Davide Padoa is CEO of Design International, a globally based architecture practice with more than forty-five years of history and studios in London, Milan, Shanghai, and Jakarta. He trained as an architect in Milan and completed his studies at Pomona in California before moving to the United Kingdom and then Indonesia, where at the age of twenty-five he designed what became Jakarta's tallest skyscraper while lecturing at Trisakti University. He joined Design International in London in 1998, was appointed managing director in 2002, and became chief executive in 2006. Under his leadership the practice designed Morocco Mall, the second-largest shopping centre in Africa, which set a Guinness World Record for its in-store shop facade, and won international awards including Best Shopping Centre honours for Odysseum in Montpellier and Best Retail Architecture Worldwide for Cleopatra Mall in Cairo.
