Eman Zidan

Director

Eman Zidan directs the Red Sea Museum in Jeddah, the institution created out of the restoration of Bab Al-Bunt, a nineteenth-century gateway building that once served travellers, pilgrims, and merchants arriving in the city by sea. Under her direction, the museum has opened exhibitions such as Sunken Treasures, which explores the maritime heritage buried along the Red Sea coast, and has run a summer camp programme aimed at introducing a new generation to marine science and innovation. She has represented the museum internationally, presenting on shared knowledge and cultural exchange across the Red Sea at the World Forum of Museum Directors, and her work sits within the Saudi Ministry of Culture's wider programme of turning historic Jeddah sites into active cultural institutions.
