Barbee Ponder

Barbee Ponder is General Counsel and Vice President, Regulatory Affairs at Globalstar, a position he has held since July 2010. He is responsible for the company's legal matters, including those with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and other international communications regulatory agencies. His full name is L. Barbee Ponder IV. From 1996 to 2005 he held regulatory counsel positions at BellSouth Corporation in Washington, D.C., including Senior Regulatory Counsel, representing the company before the FCC, Congress and the White House on the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and the deregulation of broadband services. Earlier he practised at the Jones Walker law firm in New Orleans, specialising in commercial litigation and class action defence. Between 2005 and 2010 he owned and operated a private company with timber, sand and gravel, and oil and gas interests. He holds a Juris Doctor with distinction from Emory University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Management from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.
