Ashraf Kamal
Professor
Ashraf Kamal is a professor in the Department of Architecture at the Housing and Building National Research Center in Giza, where his research career spans more than three decades. The centre is Egypt's national institute for building research, working under the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and it is the body behind the Egyptian building codes, materials testing and applied studies on construction practice. Work in its architecture department therefore sits at the point where design decisions meet regulation, covering building performance, construction technology and the standards that determine how buildings in Egypt are designed, specified and built. His academic standing within that institution reflects a long record of research and supervision inside the country's principal authority on building science.
