Ali Cheema

Director, Spectrum Regulations

Ali Cheema is Director, Spectrum Regulations at Ericsson, a spectrum and digital policy specialist who works on shaping the 5G and emerging 6G landscape across the Middle East and Africa. He has more than two decades of experience in spectrum management, technology standardisation and regulatory advocacy, and has held senior management roles at Ericsson over about 15 years, serving markets in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Pakistan. He previously served as Head of Government and Industry Relations for Africa and the Middle East at the company. He works closely with regional regulators, ministries and sub-regional coordination bodies such as the Arab Spectrum Management Group (ASMG) and the African Telecommunications Union (ATU). He has contributed to several ITU World Radiocommunication Conferences and has led advocacy efforts that resulted in spectrum availability and release supporting 4G and 5G deployments across the region.
