Prof. Mohammed Khair Al-Beqai is a researcher, academic and translator who taught at King Saud University, specialising in French literature, comparative studies and translation. His work addresses Orientalism and the image of Arabs and Islam in European writing, and the rendering of French intellectual and critical texts into Arabic. He has published translations and studies in the field, reading Western texts within their context and interrogating their assumptions rather than merely transmitting them, and contributing to debate on translation as a cultural act rather than a purely linguistic one.
