Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars and of the Permanent Committee for Ifta
Sheikh Dr Fahd bin Saad Al-Majid is Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars and of the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta in Saudi Arabia. The Council of Senior Scholars, established in 1971, is the Kingdom's highest religious authority, issuing rulings and opinions on emerging and public questions, with the Permanent Committee for Ifta reporting to it. In his role he oversees the General Secretariat's work, the organisation of the Council's sessions, the preparation of its research and the publication of its decisions, with a focus on Islamic legal studies and questions of moderation.
