Youn Hee Choi

Senior Research Fellow

A senior research fellow at the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade (KIET) in Seoul, where she has worked since 2001, joining as an associate research fellow and being appointed research fellow in 2003. Earlier she conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University and worked as a research scientist in the biotechnology laboratory of the Lotte R&D Centre. Her work centres on the economics and policy of the bio-industry, including her study of the dynamics of the bio-industry within the Korean technological system. She has served on advisory and deliberative councils on biotechnology and healthcare in Korea, among them the Bioscience and Biotechnology Research Council, the Korea Biotech R&D Group and the advisory committee of the Functional Proteomics Centre.
