Bandar Alghanem

A Saudi scientist working in mass spectrometry, proteomics and metabolomics. He is Chairman of the Medical Research Core Facility and Platforms at King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) in Riyadh, where he also serves as a senior research scientist and heads the proteomics and metabolomics unit. He completed a bachelor's degree in biochemistry at King Saud University in 2003, a master's in advanced genomic and proteomic sciences at the University of Nottingham in 2010, and a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Geneva in 2016, followed by a one-year postdoctoral fellowship in proteomics at The Scripps Research Institute in California in 2018. His work centres on building mass spectrometry tools and applying them to cancer, infectious disease and rare disease research, including the proteomic characterisation of the KAIMRC1 breast cancer cell line. His publications have drawn more than 420 citations, with an h-index of 12.
