Ahmed Alaskar

Prof. Ahmed Sulaiman Alaskar is a consultant in adult hematology and stem cell transplantation and has served as Executive Director of the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) since September 2013. He earned his MBBS from King Saud University in 1989 and completed internal medicine residency training at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver in 1995, obtaining the American Board of Internal Medicine certification and becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1997. At the same university he completed fellowship training in leukemia and bone marrow transplantation in 1998, along with Canadian and American board certification in hematology. He joined King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, as a consultant in adult hematology in 1999, headed the Division of Adult Hematology from 2006 to 2015, and served as KAIMRC's Deputy Executive Director from 2010. He is a full professor in the College of Medicine at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, and a founder and, since 2010, president of the Saudi Scientific Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
