President
A Saudi physician and executive leader who has served as President of King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah since February 2024, overseeing an institution with more than 100,000 students and some 15,000 staff. He is a specialist in internal medicine and geriatrics, holding an MBBS from King Abdulaziz University and postgraduate training at Western University in Ontario, Canada, including a fellowship in memory disorders and osteoporosis. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a Certified Physician Executive. His executive education includes programmes at London Business School, Harvard Business School and the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Before moving to the university he served as Deputy Minister of Health for Therapeutic Services, contributing to national healthcare initiatives. He received the King Abdulaziz Medal, Second Class, in 2021, and the Kaufman Canadian Award for geriatric research in 2009.
