Sundus Sameer Malaikah

Assistant Professor

An assistant professor in the Clinical Nutrition Department, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, and a senior specialist in clinical sports nutrition and exercise physiology. She also heads the Faculty Excellence Unit at the university's Center for Teaching and Learning Development. She holds a master's degree in sports nutrition and exercise physiology from Columbia University and completed her doctorate at the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine, School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, Loughborough University, with research affiliation to the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre. Her research examines hepatic lipid composition and its role in obesity-related metabolic disease, adipose tissue insulin resistance, and the effect of physical activity and sedentary time on hepatic inflammation and fibrosis. Her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Liver International, Obesity Reviews and JHEP Reports. She also founded an educational platform on nutrition and athletic performance.
