Snr. Advisor to Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources

A Saudi chemical engineer serving as advisor to the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources with oversight of the pharmaceutical, vaccine and biotechnology industries, and a member of the board of directors of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from King Saud University and an advanced qualification in management, manufacturing and design from the University of Cambridge. His career spans more than 27 years, beginning at the Saudi Industrial Development Fund where he supervised several industrial sectors. He established the first active pharmaceutical ingredients plant in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East, and later served as chief executive of the National Industrial Development Center and head of the National Industrial Clusters Development Program. His appointment as ministerial advisor was issued on 2 January 2022; his remit includes studying the creation of a dedicated vaccine manufacturing and biotechnology office within the ministry, and he serves as secretary of the vaccine and biopharmaceutical manufacturing committee.
