Namir Hassan

Chief Executive Officer

Namir Hassan is Chief Executive Officer of Zelluna Immunotherapy, which he joined in 2018 as Chief Scientific Officer before being appointed CEO in 2019, and now leads the first clinical evaluation of allogeneic TCR-NK cell therapy for solid tumours. He holds a first-class BSc in Biotechnology from University College London and has more than fifteen years of biotech and pharma experience spanning target validation through early-phase clinical trials. Earlier in his career he was a research scientist at GlaxoSmithKline before joining the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, then returned to GSK as a group leader; in 2009 he joined Immunocore as Director of Translational Research in Oncology and Head of Biology, rising to Vice President in 2017. At Immunocore he oversaw early development and the first-in-human trial of a TCR-based biologic targeting the melanoma antigen gp100, work that laid the groundwork for KIMMTRAK, the world's first approved TCR therapy, and he also built the company's infectious-disease unit, securing an investment of up to USD 40 million from the Gates Foundation. He has been a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Oxford since 2016.
