Mohammed R. Majdali is Executive Director of Coastal Tourism Operations at the Saudi Red Sea Authority, with more than twenty years in the maritime sector. The Authority is a regulator established to organise, license and supervise coastal tourism on the Red Sea rather than to operate it, and that distinction defines his work: inspection frameworks, compliance systems and safety standards for marinas, cruise terminals and coastal assets. The Saudi Red Sea is now entering a transformation, with destinations, marinas and cruise terminals being built along its coast that did not exist a few years ago, and governing that traffic in a sensitive marine environment is what distinguishes coastal regulation from regulation in commercial ports.
