Dr. Juan Recio is Practice Director for Ports and Marine at AECOM in the UAE, with global expertise in port planning, marine infrastructure design and project delivery, and has led a number of major port development projects across the Middle East. AECOM is an American engineering firm among the world’s largest infrastructure houses, and its ports and marine practice covers a full chain that begins with demand studies and capacity planning and does not end at the design of quays and navigation entrances. Infrastructure resilience to climate change has become a fixed item in that practice, since coastal assets are now designed against sea level rise and intensifying storm scenarios across their service life.
