Miguel Forte

Miguel Forte is Chief Executive Officer of Kiji Therapeutics, which is developing off-the-shelf engineered cell therapies for inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, and Executive Chairman of Akatsuki Therapeutics, alongside board roles at StemBond, Swarm Oncology and Blue Cell Therapeutics. He holds an MD in infectious diseases from the University of Lisbon, where he also serves as a professor, and a PhD in immunology from the University of Birmingham. Between 2004 and 2017 he held senior leadership roles at UCB and Nabi Pharmaceuticals before becoming CMO and COO of TxCell, which he helped transform from a research-stage organisation into a listed cell-therapy company through its 2014 IPO. He went on to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Zelluna Immunotherapy and then of the listed company Bone Therapeutics, where he led multiple capital raises and a successful merger. He is Immediate Past President of the International Society for Cell and Gene Therapy, having served as its President from 2024 to 2026.
