Matthias Krings

Matthias Krings is a founding partner of Catenion, the strategy consultancy he co-founded in 2003, where he works with international pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech clients on corporate and R&D strategy, business development and licensing, and R&D portfolio prioritisation, and leads the firm's bespoke executive education through the Catenion Academy. Before co-founding Catenion he was a consultant at Mercer Management Consulting, now Oliver Wyman, and later at the strategy boutique Theron. He holds a diploma and doctorate in biology from the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, where his PhD research on Neanderthal DNA, published in Cell in 1997 and supervised by Nobel laureate Svante Paabo, was among the first studies to sequence ancient hominin DNA and helped establish the field of paleogenetics. He lives in Munich.
