Maria Luisa Pineda

Co-founder & CEO

Maria Luisa Pineda is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Envisagenics, which applies artificial intelligence to RNA splicing analysis for drug discovery. The company is a spin-out of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, built on the research of Dr Adrian Krainer, a leading authority on splicing, and has secured multiple SBIR grants from the National Institutes of Health as well as research collaborations with biopharma partners. Pineda came to the United States from Colombia and won the Intel International Science Fair as a high-school student in Miami, before earning her doctorate at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory School of Biological Sciences as an Arnold and Mabel Beckman graduate student and William Randolph Hearst Foundation scholar; she completed her undergraduate studies at Barry University. Before Envisagenics she gained investment experience in technology and life-sciences start-ups at Canrock Ventures and Golden Seeds, and she now serves as Secretary of the Alliance for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare.
