Mads Daugaard

Mads Daugaard is co-founder, President and Chief Scientific Officer of Rakovina Therapeutics, and a senior research scientist and principal investigator at the Vancouver Prostate Centre, where he also heads the Molecular Pathology and Cell Imaging Unit as an associate professor in the Department of Urologic Sciences at the University of British Columbia. He earned his PhD from the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Copenhagen in 2007. His research centres on sugar modifications of proteins in solid tumours, DNA-damage response, chemotherapy resistance and immune-evasion mechanisms in cancer, work that has established him as a leading voice in translational cancer research. Beyond Rakovina, he has co-founded three other biotechnology companies: VAR2 Pharmaceuticals in 2012, VarCT Diagnostics in 2017 and SnapCyte Solutions in 2022.
