Hyun-Young Park

Professor

A Korean physician-scientist working in precision medicine and population genomics. She served as Director General of the Korea National Institute of Health and is now a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Nowon Eulji Medical Center, Eulji University, Seoul. She earned her MD and PhD from Yonsei University College of Medicine, and rose through research and administrative posts that included Chief of the National Biobank of Korea and Director of the Department of Precision Medicine at KNIH, as well as leading divisions for cardiovascular and rare disease research. She helped build Korea's genomic research infrastructure, including the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study, the National Biobank of Korea, the Korea Biobank Array and the Clinical and Omics Data Archive. Her research centres on population genetics, women's health and cardiovascular disease, with hundreds of published papers, and she has long advocated for health data sharing policy.
