Bashar Sumaya, P.Eng., M.Sc., is a senior civil and geotechnical engineer with more than 25 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, major infrastructure, hydropower, dams, pavements and project management. He holds a Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Université Laval in Canada and has held senior engineering and project management roles with AECOM, Hydro-Québec and SOLNOR. His experience includes complex geotechnical investigations, ground improvement, foundation and earthworks engineering, slope stability, pavement engineering, dam safety, constructability and geotechnical risk assessment. He has contributed to major Canadian and international infrastructure and hydropower projects and currently practises as a Senior Independent Engineer. His work combines practical engineering experience with innovative approaches to ground improvement, infrastructure resilience and geotechnical investigation, and he contributes actively to international technical conferences and to professional knowledge exchange in geotechnical and infrastructure engineering.
