Pedro Simao Pinto

Consulting Engineer

Pedro Simao Pinto is a consulting engineer who completed a six-year Licentiate in Civil Engineering with honours, a Master of Engineering with high honours, and a specialist doctorate-level qualification in Geotechnique. He held a Fulbright scholarship with training periods at MIT, the United States Bureau of Reclamation in Denver and the University of California, Berkeley, and became Director of Research at full professor level. Within the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering he has served as President from 2005 to 2009, Immediate Past President from 2009 to 2013, Board member from 2017 to 2022 and, since 2021, adviser to its Honours and Awards Committee.
