Antonina Mitrofanova

Associate Dean for Research, Deputy Director, Professor

Dr. Antonina Mitrofanova is a researcher in biomedical informatics and computational biology. She is Associate Dean for Research at the Rutgers School of Health Professions, Deputy Director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Health AI, a tenured professor of biomedical and health informatics, and founding director of the PhD track in biomedical informatics and health AI. She studied medicine for four years at Kyiv Medical University in Ukraine before moving to the United States, earned her PhD in computer science at NYU's Courant Institute, and completed postdoctoral training in computational systems biology at the Columbia University Cancer Center as an NSF Computing Innovation Fellow. Her lab develops computational algorithms that elucidate the genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic mechanisms of disease progression and identify personalized treatment strategies, with a focus on treatment resistance in prostate cancer. She is a research member of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) in 2025.
