Adel Alharf

Vice President for Drug Sector

Vice President for the Drug Sector at the Saudi Food and Drug Authority since February 2018, with strategic and operational oversight of the sector's work, including medicine licensing, product evaluation, pharmacovigilance, drug availability and cosmetics safety. He joined the authority in 2004 and took part in establishing most of the sector's departments and regulations, serving as Director of the National Pharmacovigilance and Drug Safety Centre from 2013 to 2014 and as Executive Director of the Vigilance and Benefit/Risk Assessment Directorate from 2014 to 2018. He holds a master's degree in pharmacology from King's College London and a PhD in Medicine and Therapeutics from the University of Glasgow. He is a board member and head of the executive committee of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, a member of the steering committee of the National Centre for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and a member of the strategic committee of the Saudi Patient Safety Centre.
