Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Zulfa
Historian, Academic and Former Shura Council Member
Dr Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Saeed Al-Zulfa is a Saudi academic, researcher, historian and translator, born in 1944 in the village of Al-Maragha in Ahad Rufaidah, Asir. He holds a bachelor's degree in modern history from King Saud University, a master's from the University of Kansas in the United States, and a PhD in modern history from the University of Cambridge (1988). He taught at King Saud University, served three terms in the Shura Council between 1998 and 2009, and founded the Al-Zulfa Cultural and Civilisational Centre in 2008. He is known for his engagement with heritage and popular culture, the history of Asir and the southern Peninsula, and for his presence in public debate on heritage protection and social questions.
