Senior Director, Security Strategy and Design

Brett Taylor is Senior Director for Security Strategy and Design at Diriyah Company, the developer of the Diriyah project, one of the Kingdom’s giga-projects north-west of Riyadh. Security design on a project of this kind begins before the foundation is poured: checkpoint locations, movement routes, separating visitor flow from service flow, control room placement, camera cabling and vehicle barriers are architectural decisions taken at design stage and impossible to correct after construction except at heavy cost. Diriyah is a particular case because it is a heritage site inscribed on the World Heritage List, so any visible security measure collides with the constraints of preserving historic fabric, pushing the design towards embedded solutions that are not seen.
