Adnan Alghamdi

Aviation Security Advisor to the Vice President for Security

Adnan Alghamdi is Aviation Security Advisor to the Vice President for Security at the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the body that regulates aviation in Saudi Arabia, issues its licences and monitors airport and carrier compliance with standards. Aviation security is governed by Annex 17 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, which requires every state to maintain a national civil aviation security programme covering passenger, baggage, cargo and mail screening, control of access to restricted areas, staff vetting and insider threat. The Kingdom is building new airports and expanding existing ones at a time when the threat has shifted from classic hijacking towards drones and navigation jamming, which places this post at the boundary between regulation and operations.
