Dr. Jack McCauley

Dr. Jack McCauley is Innovator in Residence and a Board Trustee at the University of California, Berkeley, and co-founder and former engineer at Oculus VR. An engineer, inventor and video-game maker, he received a full scholarship to Berkeley, where he earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science in 1986, and is known for designing the guitar and drum controllers for the Guitar Hero game series. He co-founded Oculus with Palmer Luckey, Brendan Iribe and others, and led engineering and production of its first and second development kits until Facebook acquired the company for two billion dollars, and holds several U.S. patents in virtual reality and motion control. He founded his family's fund for design innovation at Berkeley's Jacobs Institute in 2015.
