Angelo Capurro
Vice President of Sales, EEMEA
Angelo Capurro is an Italian cruise industry executive based in Geneva, where he leads sales for MSC Cruises across Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He studied at the University of Genoa, graduating in economics in 1996, and began his working life in media and digital advertising, including a period with Microsoft's MSN business, before entering the cruise sector in 2003 at Costa Crociere. Over a decade there he rose from online marketing management to become Sales Director for Europe and New Markets, then Director for the United Kingdom and Growth Markets, and finally Director of Digital Direct Sales and Marketing Worldwide, work that took in direct sales channels across more than fifty European and African markets and the build-out of the operator's websites in twenty-six countries. He moved to MSC Cruises in the mid-2010s and has since held senior sales leadership roles in the group's cruise division, a remit covering both the MSC Cruises brand and its luxury sister line Explora Journeys; the company's own press office has described him as its Sales Executive Director. He is a frequent voice on the growth of the Middle East as both a deployment region and a source market, arguing that shorter three- and four-night itineraries match the regional preference for compact getaways, and that rising numbers of guests sourced from within the region, rather than fly-cruise traffic alone, are what make it viable to base larger ships in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea.
