Yuichi Sugawara is a senior engineer in water treatment technology whose career has centred on membrane-based treatment systems. He has extensive experience in the operation and technology development of membrane bioreactors, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis membrane systems, as well as advanced water treatment processes. His work focuses on developing membrane-based water treatment technologies, including the evaluation of how emerging contaminants such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, known as PFAS, can be removed from water. His current interests lie in the development and practical application of membrane systems for sustainable water reuse.
