Victor Monsalvo

Head of Eco-efficiency Area, Innovation and Technology Department

Victor Monsalvo leads a team at FCC Aqualia working on wastewater treatment and reuse, biowaste and biogas valorisation, and drinking water and desalination processes. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, where he was an Assistant Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department from 2005 to 2014, and he held visiting researcher positions at the University of Leeds, Cranfield University, the University of Sydney and RWTH Aachen University between 2007 and 2013. Until 2016 he was Head of the Technological Area for Water at Abengoa Research. He has taken part in more than 50 public and private innovation initiatives, coordinating national and European Horizon 2020 projects, and has co-authored around 110 journal articles and peer-reviewed conference papers and one book chapter, edited four books, and holds eight national and international patents. His work has been recognised by Comunidad #PorElClima in 2020, by AEDyR and Salon del Gas Renovable in 2021, by a Technology Idol distinction from Global Water Intelligence in 2022, and by the Best Technical Paper award at the 2022 IDA World Congress.
