Omar Gamal Kaoud carries out advanced desalination research at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, under the supervision of Professor Syed M. Zubair and within his research team. His work concentrates on energy-efficient water desalination, with particular attention to electrodialysis, reverse osmosis and systems integrated with renewable energy sources. Coming from a background in mechanical and power engineering, he combines modelling, optimisation and techno-economic analysis to develop practical solutions to the tightly linked water and energy challenges of arid regions. His research interests extend across membrane technologies and sustainable water treatment systems.
