Olga Ferrer

R&D, Desalination & New Technologies Area Manager

Olga Ferrer is Desalination and New Technologies Area Manager in the innovation department of ACCIONA's water business, where she also serves as Technical Leader in Desalination. She studied chemical and industrial engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona, took an MSc at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom, and completed her PhD at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia as well, including a research stay at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the United States. She has worked in water treatment since finishing her studies, chiefly in research, development and innovation but also in engineering, across a number of international companies. Her research interests centre on seawater desalination, covering pre-treatment, reverse osmosis, post-treatment and brine valorisation, and extend to drinking water production and to wastewater reclamation and reuse by advanced means, particularly membrane-based processes.
