Nausha Asrar has spent more than 30 years in applied research, materials science and corrosion control. His research base is the Water Technologies Innovation Institute and Research Advancement (WTIIRA) in Jubail, the research arm of the Saudi Water Authority. Before moving to Saudi Arabia he was Principal Corrosion Specialist at Shell Global Solutions and Senior Materials Scientist at Schlumberger in Houston. He holds a master's degree in inorganic chemistry from Aligarh Muslim University in India and a doctorate in materials science from Moscow State University in Russia, and his career has included leading research and development centres serving the steel, power, petrochemical and refining industries. His specialist areas are materials selection, the identification and mitigation of corrosion, failure analysis, design review, and corrosion at both high and low temperatures.
