Maximiliano Casal

CEO

Maxi Casal is a Uruguayan-born computer engineer and serial entrepreneur with 15 years of experience building and scaling technology companies. After working at Disney and Expedia, he co-founded Nowports, Latin America’s first digital freight forwarder. As Co-founder and COO, Maxi helped scale Nowports from its early stages into a $1.1 billion unicorn, raising more than $240 million from global investors including SoftBank, Tencent, Tiger Global, DST, and Y Combinator. Under his leadership, the company expanded across nine countries, served more than 5,000 businesses, and broadened its offering beyond logistics into insurance, lending, and other fintech products. After more than seven years operating Nowports, Maxi transitioned to a board-level role and began focusing on new ventures, particularly the application of artificial intelligence to businesses and financial institutions. After two years out, Maxi returned as CEO to lead an AI transformation of Nowports. Beyond entrepreneurship, Maxi is an active angel investor in more than 25 startups, advising founders and larger companies. He has also served as the President of Endeavor Uruguay, contributing to the development of the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
