Secretary General

Habib Turki is Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), where he leads the global organisation representing road transport and logistics operators across more than 100 countries. A senior executive with deep expertise in international trade, customs, transport and trade facilitation, he has built his career at the intersection of global commerce, public policy and international institutions. His professional background includes experience with the International Trade Centre (ITC) and UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), alongside extensive engagement with customs administrations, governments, multilateral organisations and industry leaders. At IRU, Habib works on some of the defining issues shaping global trade flows: cross-border transport, customs modernisation, TIR and eTIR, digitalisation, trade corridors, supply-chain resilience and the removal of barriers to international commerce. Previously, he spent seven years at the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), holding senior leadership roles spanning strategic development, institutional affairs, international partnerships and mobility. His career has taken him across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, working with decision-makers at the highest levels of government, business and international organisations.
