Maxfield Weiss
Global Head of Sustainability
Maxfield Weiss is Global Head of Sustainability at the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS). CIPS announced his appointment on 18 December 2025 to lead its global sustainability agenda: setting the global standard for sustainable procurement, embedding sustainability across CIPS standards, qualifications and products, and modelling best practice in the institute's own operations. He joined after more than a decade with CDP in the United States and Europe, most recently as Executive Director of CDP Europe, where he expanded environmental disclosure to cover 90% of European market capitalisation and, as a member of CDP's Global Executive Leadership Team, helped shape environmental reporting standards for capital markets and global supply chains. Earlier, at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, he created the world's first science-based supplier engagement target, helping drive wider adoption of science-based targets. He argues that the largest environmental and social challenges will be settled through economic decisions, from how capital is allocated to what businesses buy. He holds a Master of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University and two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
