Masahiro Yasukawa
Manager of Separation Membrane R&D Group
Masahiro Yasukawa holds a doctorate in environmental studies. His work spans reverse osmosis, forward osmosis, pressure-retarded osmosis, osmotically assisted reverse osmosis and reverse electrodialysis for water and energy applications, and he has contributed extensively to brine concentration, seawater desalination and zero liquid discharge, combining simulation-driven design with process scale-up. He completed his graduate studies at Okayama University and, before moving into industry, served as project assistant professor at Kobe University and assistant professor at Yamaguchi University. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and patents in membrane and salinity-gradient technologies, and is active in the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan and the Japan Desalination Association, promoting collaboration between academia and industry.
