Malek Abu Safieh

Clinical Director and Chief of Audiology

Malek Abu Safieh is an audiologist serving as Clinical Director and Chief of Audiology at Sidra Medicine in Doha, Qatar. He earned a Doctor of Audiology degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry School of Audiology in 2004 and holds ASHA, American Board of Audiology and Speech-Language and Audiology Canada credentials. With more than 20 years of experience in hearing and balance disorders, his expertise includes cochlear and osseointegrated implants. He previously served as Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator at the American University of Beirut, supervising clinical training at its medical center, and joined Sidra Medicine in 2022. He leads newborn hearing screening and early intervention programs, and has published on GJB2 mutations in hearing loss.
