Madhusmita Ray has been pursuing a PhD in energy research at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru since 2023. Her research focuses on optimising the flow path of fuel cells in order to raise their energy efficiency. Alongside that work she fabricates and tests a batch mechanical vapour recompression system operated across a wide range of salinity — a thermal separation method that recovers the energy of the vapour a process generates by compressing it and returning it to the evaporator. She received her Master of Technology in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar in 2023.
