Khaoula Khaless works in membrane separation science in the Chemical and Biochemical Sciences programme, Green Process Engineering, at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Benguerir, Morocco, covering nanofiltration, electrodialysis and the recovery of value from industrial by-products. She has published on the purification of wet-process phosphoric acid using functionalised organic nanofiltration membranes, on the staged purification of phosphogypsum through pH-dependent separation, and on multistage bipolar membrane electrodialysis applied to real seawater to desalinate it while producing acid and base from the same stream.
