Hassan Younes

Co-Chief Executive Officer and Founder

Hassan Younes is Co-Chief Executive Officer and Founder of GRFN, a consultancy working in smart buildings and sustainability across the Gulf states. Consultancy in this field sits between the designer and the owner: modelling a building’s energy use before it is built, commissioning systems and verifying that they perform as designed rather than merely as installed, taking a project through green building certification — the Saudi Mostadam scheme and the American LEED among them — and measuring performance after handover. It is a layer that has become a contractual condition on major Saudi projects rather than an optional service, because emissions reduction commitments need a measured figure rather than a design promise. He sits on this conference’s technical committee as well as speaking at it.
