Guillem Gilabert-Oriol

Global Desalination R&D Leader

Guillem Gilabert-Oriol leads the research and development team at DuPont Water Solutions' Global Water Technology Center in Tarragona, Spain, the site where the company's membrane products for desalination and municipal treatment are developed and tested. He holds a master's degree in chemical engineering and processes from Rovira i Virgili University and a doctorate on ultrafiltration, and he lectures at Rovira i Virgili. He began as a research and development scientist in 2010, went on to lead the reverse osmosis antifouling team, and took up his present global role in 2019. He is the author of two books drawn from that work: one on biofouling and organic fouling in reverse osmosis membrane elements, and one on the optimisation of ultrafiltration membrane cleaning processes in seawater desalination plants.
