For more than 20 years Eric Kadaj has applied his engineering and technical expertise to greater sustainability in desalination and industrial wastewater, through process design and implementation, operational strategies and novel discoveries that minimise environmental impacts. His work is at Energy Recovery, the California company behind the PX Pressure Exchanger, a device that transfers the pressure still carried by the concentrate leaving a seawater reverse osmosis train back into the incoming feed, cutting the energy a plant needs to push water through its membranes; the same principle has since been carried into industrial wastewater treatment and other high-pressure fluid flows. He has also served at the company as senior director of market and applications development and as pump product manager, working on system design and on pump and energy recovery device applications. He holds a B.S.E. in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan.
