Ashraf Aly Hassan, Ph.D., P.E., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at United Arab Emirates University, where he also serves as Coordinator of the Environmental Engineering Program. He received his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 2010 and has held academic, research and professional positions in the United States and the UAE. His research focuses on green biodesalination using algae, sustainable wastewater treatment with extremophilic microorganisms, biohydrogen production, and biological treatment of air and gas-phase pollutants.
